Declared unfit by the WorldSBK medical team, Jules Cluzel #16 couldn’t participate at the Spanish round due to his head injury. The young Frenchman rider Ludovic Cauchi (17 years old) replaced Jules. Also following Valentin Debise’s injury at Magny-Cours, Andy Verdoïa (18 years old) also replaced the rider from Albi for the Barcelona and Jerez rounds.

During qualifying sessions, the young GMT94 riders realized good results. Even if Ludovic Cauchi finished the free practice sessions in 30th place, he realized an interesting performance in terms of time, 2.2 seconds behind the leader.

RACE 1 (Saturday): Starting from 13th position, Andy Verdoïa #30 completed a lap in the rain before returning to the pits to change tyres. He was 15th on the track before moving up to 11th place on slicks in a few turns under the rain. After the pitstop, he came out in 5th place thanks to an incredible job by the GMT94 mechanics. Unfortunately, another rider lost the brakes hit him in the first corner on the next lap. Andy was left with a twisted right ankle.

Although Ludovic Cauchi started from the 29th place, he realized a superb race, crossing the finish line in 15th position. Following his pit stop Ludovic was 16th after another great intervention from the GMT94 mechanics. He managed to maintain the gap after Andy’s crash and scored his first World Championship point in his first world race.

RACE 2 (Sunday): Unfortunately, Andy Verdoïa #30 was unable to take part in race 2 as he was declared unfit for the race 2 due to a twisted right ankle. Ludovic Cauchi #14 couldn’t finish the race  as he couldn’t avoid the crash from another competitor ahead of him.

BS Battery team wishes a good recovery to Andy Verdoïa & Ludovic Cauchi.

The next WorldSupersport round will take place at the Circuito de Jerez in Spain, from 24th – 26th September.
