Fabio Quartararo achieved a strong weekend with excellent qualifications, securing a brilliant pole position on Saturday. He was a strong contender for the podium in the CatalanGP.

The Frenchman rider #20 was started well from front start row and emerged through the first corners in third place. He put up a strong fight with the leading group and held on a third place during the race.

However, the incident did make him take a shortcut. A few laps to go, Race Direction accordingly gave him a 3-second penalty for taking a shortcut after running wide, that put him in fourth place. Fabio bravely soldiered on to his position until the chequered flag.


Unfortunately, he fell back to sixth after the race as Race Direction accordingly gave him an additionnal 3-second penalty for riding without his leather suit correctly fastened neither the required chest protector in the race.

Fabio Quartararo still leads the championship standings with a 14-point advantage and a 115 points total. Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team is also in first place in the team standings with 192 points.

The next MotoGP weekend will be held at the Sachsenring circuit (Germany) from 18th – 20th June 2021.
