Fabio Quartararo scored his first MotoGP victory Sunday, winning the Grand Prix of Doha in Qatar, at the end of a fantastic and very contested race.

Quartararo started from second start row, and after the usual opening laps’ hustle, he found himself in ninth. The Frenchman rider stayed calm and trusting what allowed to manage his tyres cleverly, until he decided to move through the order.

With five laps to go, he relentlessly attacked the leading group and skillfully took the lead. The number-20 rider wins the Grand Prix of Doha,  ahead of his fellow countryman Johann Zarco.

Fabio Quartararo says his victory in the Doha Grand Prix is the “most special” one of his MotoGP career.

Quartararo puts in second place in the championship standings with a 36 points total. Yamaha and the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team leads the world manufacturer championship.

The next MotoGP race will be held at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (Portugal) circuit from 16th-18th April, 2021.
