Fabio Quartararo secured a third place with wet conditions in Le Mans, and returning to the podium a week after his surgery of arm pump.
Fabio Quartararo started his first flag-to-flag race from pole and slotted into third place after the opening corners of the Grand Prix de France. Dark clouds and heavy rain made the Grand Prix de France race difficult.
With 22 laps to go, the Frenchman rider #20 had to swap a bike into pit lane but unfortunately, Fabio received, a few times later, a long-lap penalty for a wrong bike swap because he didn‘t pull into the garage at the correct spot. Fabio executed it smoothly and was in second place, behind Jack Miller race leader.
With 6 laps to go, Fabio’s soft front rain tyre started to deteriorate what allowed to his fellow countryman Johann Zarco passed him.
Fabio Quartararo crossed the finish line in third and now regains the lead in the championship standings with a 80 points total. Yamaha and the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team still leads the world manufacturer championship.
The next MotoGP race will be held at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello (Italy) from 28th – 30th May 2021.
