2021 ARGENTINEAN WORLDSSP

DOUBLE WIN FOR GMT94!

The French independent team achieved a perfect weekend at the San Juan Villicum circuit (Argentina).
After leading free practices on Friday, Jules Cluzel #16 chained exceptional performances taking pole position, setting a new absolute lap record and leading the warm-up session. He achieved the first double win GMT94 history in a World Supersport Championship.
With this excellent weekend, GMT94 Yamaha Team remains unbeaten since 2019 in Argentina!
RACE 1 (Saturday): Starting from the front start row, Jules Cluzel took the lead and also increased his gap on his opponents. Without ever being worried, the Frenchman rider #16 won the race with almost five seconds of advance on the second. Valentin Debise #53 hadn’t a good start start. Fighting for the top 5, the Frenchman rider #53 crossed the finish line in 6th, just behind the two leaders of the World Supersport Championship.
RACE 2 (Sunday): Jules Cluzel #16 made an imperial second race from the beginning to the end, signing the first double win GMT94 history in a World Championship. Jules Cluzel’s teammate started from sixth position on the grid. Valentin Debise #53 was unfortunately pushed away in the first turn after two competitors crashed. He restarted from 16th place and then put in a series of fast laps to get back up to 6th place. What a great comeback. Well done Valentin!
Christophe Guyot – Team Manager expressed its total satisfaction about weekend: “Jules Cluzel and the GMT94 team had a great weekend here in Argentina. The bad luck of the beginning of the season is now behind us. We can be proud of how far we have come up to this round in Argentina. The whole team is savouring this special moment, after having dominated the weekend from start to finish. Valentin also rode well this weekend. He just missed out for one tenth the front row in qualifying, and made a great comeback in Race 2. Congratulations to him!“
The last round of the World Supersport Championship will take place on the weekend of 19-21 November at Mandalika International Street Circuit (Indonesia).
