NEW PODIUM!

GMT94 Yamaha Team were at the Portimao circuit (Portugal) for 10th round with the ambition to do well. With Valentin Debise still recovering from his accident in Magny-Cours (France), the young Italian rider Yari Montella #91 (21 years old) joined Jules Cluzel for the weekend.

During free practices (Friday), Jules Cluzel #16 set a great pace as he finished 2nd and 1st. Yari Montella was discovering the Yamaha R6, Pirelli tyres and the World Supersport Championship. He finished 11th, one second behind the leader.

With this excellent weekend, GMT94 Yamaha Team remains unbeaten since 2019 in Argentina!

RACE 1 (Saturday): Starting from 1st position, Jules Cluzel #16 managed perfectly its race 1 from the beginning to the end by winning it. Jules made a double performance as he also got the track record in the last lap in 1’44.7. Yari Montella #91 realized a great performance crossing the finish line in tenth position.

RACE 2 (Sunday): After its first victory at race 1, Jules Cluzel was confident. In a very competitive race, Jules Cluzel finished 2nd, eleven thousandths away from victory. He made a near perfect race. Yari Montella also did an excellent race as he finished 6th, five seconds behind the leader. The Italian rider was the fastest man on track in the first part of the race. A good progression for the young Neapolitan for his first World Supersport race.

Christophe Guyot expressed its satisfaction about results: ““This victory comes at the right time! After an unlucky season, we had the perfect weekend. This victory is a reward for Jules, but also for the whole GMT94 team who have worked hard since the beginning of the season. Yari also made good performances during the weekend. The GMT94 team can be satisfied with the work done. Now we have to prepare for Argentina, where Jules Cluzel is unbeaten. Valentin Debise will be back with us. We will give our best to repeat the good operation of this weekend in Portugal.“

The next WorldSupersport round will take place at the Circuito San Juan Villicum in Argentina, from 15th – 17th October.
