SAD WEEKEND AT JEREZ

 

Declared fit by the WorldSBK medical team, Jules Cluzel #16 was back with GMT94 Team at Jerez. Stefano Manzi #62 took part in this weekend’s WorldSSP round in Jerez with the GMT94 Yamaha Team. Also following Andy Verdoïa’s injury at Barcelona, the young Italian rider Stefano Manzi, coming from the Moto2 world championship, replaced the Frenchman rider for Jerez round. He also discovered the Yamaha R6 GMT94 and the Pirelli tyres. Trained at the VR46 Academy, Stefano followed the best training of Italian riders.
During free practice sessions, Stefano Manzi #62 realized a remarkable performance as he was within six tenths of the lead. Jules Cluzel #16 finished just over a second behind the leader.
RACE 1 (Saturday): Unfortunately, Dean Berta Vinales has disappeared during a crash in the WorldSSP 300cc. On Sunday, the family of Dean Berta Vinales gave notice of their wish to see the races resume. A meeting with the riders was organised. Before the races start, an emotional one-minute silence was taken in WorldSSP 300cc rider Dean Berta Viñales’s honour.
RACE 2 (Sunday): It was the only race of the weekend. Stefano Manzi #62 finished 9th. With a similar pace to the second and third in the last ten laps, Manzi continued to fight with Odendaal and Krummenacher. Jules Cluzel #16 crossed the finish line in 10th.

The tenth round of the World Supersport Championship will take place on the weekend of 1-3 October at Portimão (Portugal).
